What happens when installing Visual C++ 2008 SP1 after updating to 2010

I just updated to MS visual C++ 2010 via windows update... now HTC wants to install an update which includes MS Visual C++ 2008 SP1.  Is there anyway to be sure that this will not screw up regulare operations?
